Is XERF Worth It? Honest Results & Patient Review

Short answer: yes - for the right patient. XERF delivers real, measurable collagen stimulation with zero downtime and no needles. But like any aesthetic treatment, results depend on who you are, what you're trying to achieve, and whether your expectations match what the technology actually does.

Our Verdict XERF is absolutely worth it for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want progressive, needle-free tightening with no recovery time. It is not the right choice for patients who need aggressive correction or want surgical-level results from a single session. Your consultation will tell you which category you're in.

What XERF actually does — the honest version

XERF is not magic, and it's not surgery. Here's what it is: controlled radiofrequency energy delivered into your dermis to heat collagen fibers and stimulate fibroblast activity. That produces two things:

  • Immediate tightening — collagen fibers contract when heated. Most patients notice their skin feels firmer immediately after their first session.
  • Progressive collagen remodeling — fibroblasts activated by the RF energy produce new collagen and elastin over 8–12 weeks after each session. This is the slow, real improvement that compounds with each treatment.

The result is visibly tighter, smoother skin — particularly on the face, neck, jowls, abdomen, and arms — that improves over a series of sessions and lasts 12–18 months with proper maintenance. What XERF won't do is replicate a surgical result or eliminate significant tissue redundancy that requires excision.

Is XERF right for you?

✓ XERF is a great fit if you…

  • Have mild to moderate skin laxity on the face, neck, or body
  • Want collagen building without needles or recovery
  • Can't afford downtime — work, family, active lifestyle
  • Are in your 30s–60s and want proactive anti-aging
  • Are maintaining results after Morpheus8 or surgery
  • Want a monthly skin-tightening protocol you can sustain
  • Prefer comfortable treatments (no numbing required)

✗ XERF is not the best fit if you…

  • Have severe skin laxity that requires surgical correction
  • Want the most aggressive remodeling possible (Morpheus8 first)
  • Expect surgical-level results from a non-surgical device
  • Have certain metal implants in the treatment area
  • Are pregnant
  • Want dramatic results after just one session

Real XERF results: what to expect and when

After session 1

Skin feels firmer and more lifted immediately. Some patients notice visible jawline definition within 24–48 hours as collagen contracts. Results are subtle at this stage — the compounding process is just beginning.

Weeks 4–6 (after sessions 2–3)

Texture refinement and early tightening become clearly visible to others, not just in close-up selfies. Most patients reach the "I keep getting compliments but nobody knows what I did" phase around session 3.

Weeks 8–12 post-session

Peak collagen remodeling from each session completes here. This is when before-and-after photos show the most dramatic comparison — the skin has fully rebuilt the new collagen matrix triggered by treatment.

After a full series (sessions 4–6)

Cumulative results are significant — tighter jowls, sharper jawline definition, smoother neck, lifted brow area. Most patients at this stage say this is where they first felt a meaningful change in how they look in photos.

Months 3–18 post-series

Results plateau and hold for 12–18 months. Monthly maintenance sessions extend this significantly — many BioRevive patients on a monthly XERF plan maintain their results continuously without needing a full series restart.

XERF vs the alternatives: is it worth it relative to other options?

Option Works for laxity? Downtime Pain level Total cost Worth it?
XERF (series) Mild–moderate None Minimal $1,299–$2,500 Yes — for right pt
Morpheus8 Moderate–severe 3–5 days Moderate $2,400–$4,500 Yes — more aggressive
HIFU Moderate (SMAS) None Moderate $1,500–$3,500 Yes — different depth
At-home RF device Very mild only None None $200–$500 device Limited results
Surgical facelift Severe laxity 2–4 weeks Significant $15,000–$30,000+ Only if needed
Key insight: At-home RF devices deliver energy at a fraction of the intensity of clinical equipment. They are not a substitute for professional XERF. The comparison for XERF is to other clinical RF and energy treatments, where it holds up as a cost-effective, downtime-free option with genuine clinical outcomes.

What BioRevive patients say about XERF results

★★★★★
"I was skeptical about 'RF' because I'd tried a home device with zero results. Clinical XERF is completely different — after 4 sessions my jowl area has visibly lifted and I stopped wearing concealer on my neck. 100% worth it."
— Jennifer H., Newport Beach
★★★★★
"I chose XERF over Morpheus8 because I couldn't take a week off work. I'm on my 5th session and the results have been real — not dramatic, but genuinely visible. My husband noticed before I told him."
— Patricia W., Laguna Beach
★★★★★
"I do XERF monthly as maintenance after my Morpheus8 series from last year. My skin has stayed tight and I've extended my Morpheus8 results by at least a year. Worth every dollar."
— Sandra K., Irvine

Frequently asked questions

Is XERF worth it for mild skin laxity?
Yes - mild laxity is actually where XERF performs best. Patients in their 30s and early 40s who haven't yet developed significant tissue redundancy see some of the clearest results from a XERF series, because they're addressing laxity while it's still correctable with collagen stimulation alone.
Does XERF work for the neck?
Yes. The neck is one of XERF's strongest treatment areas. Skin laxity on the neck and submental area (the area under the chin) responds well to RF-based collagen stimulation, and many patients choose a face + neck package specifically because the neck is where they notice aging fastest.
How soon will I see XERF results?
You'll feel immediate firmness after your first session. Visible results that other people notice typically appear around sessions 2–3 (weeks 4–8 into the protocol). Peak results from each session occur at the 8–12 week collagen remodeling mark, and they compound across sessions.
Is XERF better than Morpheus8?
They're different tools for different needs. Morpheus8 is more aggressive - it delivers RF via microneedles into the dermis, reaching deeper and producing more dramatic remodeling, but with 3–5 days of downtime. XERF delivers RF from the surface with no needles and no downtime. "Better" depends entirely on your laxity level, downtime tolerance, and goals. Many patients do both: Morpheus8 for aggressive correction, XERF monthly for maintenance.
Who should not get XERF?
XERF is not appropriate for patients with active skin infections or open wounds in the treatment area, patients with certain electronic implants (pacemakers) or metal implants near the treatment area, patients who are pregnant, or patients with severe skin laxity requiring surgical correction. Your BioRevive provider will screen for contraindications at your consultation.
